BBC Worldwide has pulled off one of the biggest coups of the year for Passionate Productions, one of the UK’s smallest independent production companies, distributing the latter’s ground-breaking documentary, Family That Walks on All Fours, to more than 30 territories around the world. This includes a distribution on PBS in the US, where the film will air nationwide later this month through the coveted science series NOVA.

The film, which aired in the UK on BBC2 in March 2006 to 3.2 million viewers, is represented internationally by BBC Worldwide. It tells the extraordinary story of five Turkish adults who have never stood up,asking whether this the anthropological find of the millennium, or simply a unique medical case.

Jemima Harrison, director at Passionate Productions, says; "In a world where the big indie is so often king, it just goes to show that with the right product and a team like BBC Worldwide’s Indie Unit behind you, even tiny companies like us can play with the big boys.”

Aine Doherty, Head of Factual at the BBC’s Indie Unit. “I hope our achievement with Passionate Productions encourages smaller indies to see the benefits of talking to us.”

BBC Worldwide has sold Family That Walk on All Fours to over 30 countries including: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Germany, Holland Switzerland, Scandinavia and Thailand.

Passionate Productions comprises Jemima Harrison and her cameraman partner, Jon Lane. They work out of a thatched cottage in a small Wiltshire village.
